A new policy to keep our shelves fresh (and fair!) for local shoppers
If you love the thrill of the hunt at Re-Read Used Books, we have some exciting news. We are changing how we process new arrivals to give our local storefront communities the absolute first shot at the new inventory.
Starting on July 1st, we are introducing our Neighbours First policy. Every single used book added to our inventory at Stittsville or Riverside South will stay strictly exclusive to that specific store for its first 14 days.
- No immediate internet sales: Online buyers won’t be able to snatch them up and put them on hold before you see them.
- No immediate store-to-store transfers: The books stay on the shelves where they landed, rewarding the locals who walk through our doors.
Can I still buy a book if I see it online or call in?
Yes! If you spot a quarantined book at our other location, you can still call and pay for it immediately to secure it. However, to keep things fair for that store's local foot traffic, we will hold the book and ship or transfer it on Day 15.
Facebook posts of new items that have just arrived on shelves would be considered exclusive for the first 14 days.
Note: Rare and high-value collectibles over $50 are exempt and may move immediately.
We will be working out the bugs, so we appreciate your patience as we implement this process, as well as with our staff, who are trying to figure it out as well.
